[RCM.19.4.2009] Libya Commemorates 23rd Anniversary of Failed American Aggression on 14 ýApril 1986ý .      

The Libyan people commemorated on Tuesday the 23rd Anniversary of the failed ýAmerican aggression on their country that took place on 14 April 1986.ý

A festival was held in front of the House of the Leader of the Revolution which ýwithstood against that aggression in Tripoli. Similar festivities were also held in ýBenghazi and other Libyan cities.ý

The festival held in Tripoli was attended by Chairman of AU Commission, Jean Ping, ýForeign Ministers and Heads of delegations of AU member states.ý

A large number of Libyan top officials and guests of Libya also attended the ýcommemoration.ý

In a speech to the large gather the chairman of the Social People's Leadership said the ýhouse as it is represents a symbol of victory and the will of the Libyan people to ýconfront that unjust American-NATO aggression on Jamahiriya in that year. ý

He said the Leader was targeted by the aggressors because he was and still the ýchampion for justice and a great fighter against oppression, racism and imperialism as ýrepresented by the Reagan administration that planned and wage such aggression.ý

He added that Libya not only defeated that aggression, but it also crushed all pressure, ýsiege and hostile policies of the US by the firm resolve of the Libyan people guided ýby the leader of the Revolution, Jana the Libyan news agency quoted him as saying.ý

A video documenting the American acts of hostility against Libya up to the night of ýý14 April was screened at the commemoration festival.ý

The video depicted the Libyan heroic steadfast to the American aggression which ýtargeted the Leader's home and the cities of Tripoli and Benghazi.ý
